Introduction:

The UAE Prime Minister's Office is responsible for organizing a variety of events, including government meetings, conferences, and seminars. These events require a high level of coordination, and often involve multiple stakeholders, including government officials, industry experts, and the media. To streamline the event coordination process, the Prime Minister's Office decided to develop a mobile app specifically for event coordinators. The app would include features such as task management, communication tools, and integration with other software platforms.

Project Objectives:

The primary objectives of developing the Coordinator Mobile App were:

  • To provide a platform for event coordinators to manage tasks, schedules, and communication with stakeholders.
  • To integrate with Salesforce, a CRM platform used by the Prime Minister's Office, to enable coordinators to access and update event information in real-time.
  • To integrate with Zoom, a video conferencing platform used by the Prime Minister's Office, to enable coordinators to schedule and manage virtual meetings.

Project Scope:

The WGS Coordinator Mobile App was designed to provide the following features:

  • Task Management: Coordinators could create and assign tasks, set deadlines, and track progress.
  • Schedule Management: Coordinators could create and manage event schedules, including sessions, meetings, and breaks.
  • Communication Tools: Coordinators could communicate with stakeholders, including government officials, industry experts, and the media, via chat and email.
  • Salesforce Integration: Coordinators could access and update event information in real-time, including attendee lists, session details, and venue information.
  • Zoom Integration: Coordinators could schedule and manage virtual meetings, including video conferencing, screen sharing, and recording.
  • Notifications: The app would send notifications to coordinators to remind them of upcoming tasks or schedule changes.

Technologies Used:

The Coordinator Mobile App was developed using the following technologies:

  • Swift: Swift is the primary programming language for native iOS app development. It is modern, safe, and offers excellent performance.
  • Android Studio: Android Studio is the official IDE for Android development. It provides a comprehensive set of tools for designing, coding, debugging, and testing Android apps.
  • Firebase: A backend platform used for storing and managing app data, including attendee profiles, schedules, and interactive session data.
  • Zoom API: An API used for integrating the app with Zoom, enabling coordinators to schedule and manage virtual meetings.
  • Zoom OAuth: Zoom OAuth is used for authenticating users and obtaining authorization to access Zoom features. It allows users to log in using their Zoom accounts and grants your app permission to interact with the Zoom platform.
  • Salesforce REST API: An API used for integrating the app with Salesforce, enabling coordinators to access and update event information in real-time and perform various operations such as authenticate with Salesforce, make API requests, and handle responses.
  • Git: Git is a popular version control system that allows tracking changes to codebase, collaborate with others, and manage different versions of the app.
  • Firebase Analytics: Firebase Analytics provides comprehensive analytics capabilities, including user behavior tracking and event logging.

Results:

The Coordinator Mobile App was launched in September 2022, and it was well-received by event coordinators. The app provided coordinators with a single platform to manage tasks, schedules, and communication, which streamlined the event coordination process. The integration with Salesforce enabled coordinators to access and update event information in real-time, while the integration with Zoom enabled coordinators to schedule and manage virtual meetings seamlessly.

The Coordinator Mobile App project was successful in achieving its objectives and delivered a seamless event coordination experience to coordinators. The app's success paved the way for future developments and improvements, enabling the UAE Prime Minister.
